Trigger Snaps

At Henssgen Hardware, we specialize in the production and distribution of high-quality hardware products, including pulleys, links, rings, and snap hooks. One of the most popular and reliable snap types we offer are trigger snaps.

Trigger snap hooks differ from other snap hooks in that they feature a small lever that allows the operator to easily connect and disconnect hardware with one hand. The durable snap is attached to a spring that makes the trigger snap quick, strong, and simple to use. Due to their reliable and tough construction, snap triggers are a preferred tool for a massive range of applications.

Trigger Snap 101: Types, Features & What is it Used for?

Trigger snaps are used to securely attach rigging equipment such as rope, straps, cable, and chains. Our snaps are known for their durability and strength and can be used for both heavy industrial and everyday use.

Snap Features

There are two main components required for a trigger snap hook to operate. These components are the trigger and spring snap, which allows for the snap to safely attach to another point. Trigger snap hooks are the preferred hardware choice for rigging and securing equipment, especially when a bolt snap is not sufficient. A trigger snap is more reliable than bolts, as the trigger will not release unless the operator applies deliberate force to open the hook.

The Swivel Eye Trigger Snap

Many snap triggers feature a swivel eye trigger. A swivel eye is an adjustable feature that allows the hook to rotate along a vertical axis in a circular motion. This range of motion allows a wide range of motion while remaining safely affixed to a separate point. The eye of the swivel eye trigger hook can range in size from 3/8″ to 1″.

Material Options

At Henssgen Hardware we offer trigger snap hooks in brass, steel, stainless steel, and die-cast zinc.

  • Brass. Brass snaps offer an aesthetically pleasing look that includes operational benefits such as low friction and high heat resistance.
  • Steel. Steel is one of the most common metals used for industrial applications for its strength.
  • Stainless Steel. Stainless Steel is also a popular option, due to its inexpensive production cost, strength, durability, and corrosion resistance.
  • Die-Cast Zinc. Trigger snaps created using zinc die casting are affordable, lightweight, and easily produced in high volumes.

Common applications

Snap hooks are used to safely secure equipment together in a wide range of applications. Examples include agriculture, sports equipment, marine rigging, awnings, and animal leashes. Snap triggers are designed for durability and sturdiness in order to support heavy industry equipment. To follow industry specifications, trigger snaps must be self-closing and self-locking, which means that the hook is closed even during its resting state. This is to ensure both product and operator safety while in use.
